Have questions? See if your question is in here, if not ask away and I will add it to the FAQ:
The Sims[/i]
What is The Sims?
The Sims is a series of games created by Maxis and EA. It focuses on "Sims," which are simulated beings in a virtual world. You can create your own Sims or play from preinstalled ones. While playing The Sims, your Sims can get married, buy a house, have children, get a job, have fun, satisfy needs, wants, and/or wishes (depending on which game you play) and, if you are unlucky, they can also die of a range of causes from hunger, to fire, to old age, and even meteor strikes. It's open-ended, so you can play The Sims as long as you want, and change households as often as you want. You can even focus on one family and build a family dynasty that spans generations!
The Sims series is the most successful video game series of all time and the best-selling PC franchise series of all time. This means that it's really good! If you haven't played one of the games yet, it is highly recommended you at least try it. Most older Sims games can be found on amazon, and more recent ones can be purchased in most video game and electronics stores.

Do I need to own a copy of The Sims in order to be a member?
Of course not! While playing The Sims gives you background knowledge of most of the topics covered in this forum, it is not necessary to be an active member. You can still have fun posting and learn about the game here. No one will think any less of you for it!
Another member isn't following the rules. Should I do something about it?
Basically, no. Interfering directly with someone who is following the rules can usually make things worse, and it does nothing to solve the problem. The best thing to do is notify a staff member about the issue and let them deal with it.
I have a more private question for a staff member. What should I do?
You can always PM a staff member if you have a private matter to discuss or a question that you just don't feel comfortable asking on the forum. Staff members will do their best to help you or point you in the right direction.
