The head of Juvenile Court 1 of Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, Reyes Martel , combines her professional activity with the development of the NGO UP2U that tries to help the reintegration of minors into society. She is more in favor of the controlled use of mobile devices. . “We are making a mistake by giving a mobile phone to young children without them knowing how to use it,” she clarifies.
Regarding use in classrooms, “ I would set it at no less than 14 years and in a controlled manner . Use it only for teaching activities in class. I would establish the prohibition Fax Lists with nuances . I am a supporter of the Digital State Pact to implement rational use of mobile phones and other technologies. It must be regulated appropriately. We must explain to them that recording sexual videos as well as disseminating them without consent is a criminal offense.”

From his point of view, “now bullying is unstoppable. It doesn't end in class because it continues at home through social media, while your elders don't notice this problem. Sometimes parents arrive late when the problem has arisen. The same thing happens with child pornography, which is being done right under our noses and they are also victims of it.”
In his opinion, “ it is important for the legislator to consult the experts , we, the 82 juvenile judges in our country, have not been consulted for any of the legislative reforms that affect children, which seems a contradiction because We are very close to them when they commit a crime. In these reforms, the so-called best interests of the minor were not taken into account.”
